Paph. armeniacum caused a stir in the orchid world with its discovery at the end of the 1970s. The taxonomists were not unanimous whether this species even belongs in the genus Paphiopedilum, since characteristics of Cypripedium are also present. There has also been speculation as to whether this new Paphiopedilum not just a color variant of Paph. delenatii be.

In 1982 these plants were then named Paph. armeniacum described.
The plant can be found in southern Yunnan (China) and also in the border area to Vietnam at altitudes of around 2000 m.

The culture takes place in a temperate area, whereby cooler temperatures are also tolerated during the light rest period. paper armeniacum also multiplies via runners - a culture in bowls is therefore recommended.
