Paph. exul grows on some islands in the Gulf of Krabi in Thailand. The plants can be found on the rocks at a height of 10 - 20 m, sometimes in full sun.

The plants should be cultivated in the warm section of the greenhouse. These plants are also exposed to a 4-month drought in their natural habitat, but always get moisture from the spray when the sea is rough.
