Paphiopedilum gardinerii WILLIAMS
Section: Coryopetalum
Synonym: Paph. wilhelminae
Paph. wilhelminae
has a different staminode and the first description speaks of a "purple" color. Garay concludes that the Paph. wilhelminae is currently missing.
The majority of taxonomists recognize the Paph. gardinerii not as a separate species and assigns them to Paph. Wilhelminae to. Clarification can only take place when plants from this complex are found from Mount Wilhelm.
Paph. gardinerii
These plants were imported to Europe from the Balim Valley near the town of Wamena (Irian Jaya / Indonesia) at the end of the 1980s and were then regularly reared. All plants available today are therefore likely to be descendants of this location.
