Paph. philippinense und Paph. appletonianum

I had a Paph. philippinense blooming with 7 flowers on each of the two flower stalks. After all the flowers had opened, I cut off both flower heads to protect the plant a little. The flowers last another 2-3 weeks in the vase.

Paph. philippinense comes from the Philippines and is said to be found on the islands of Luzon, Palawan, Guimares, Negros and Mindano. Unfortunately, there are very few photos of these plants in their location.

Three Paph. appletonianum have opened their buds three weeks apart. Although all the flowers are very similar, they differ upon closer inspection. As the flowering period increases, the petals turn backwards.

Paph. appletonianum grows in northern Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, southern China and on the island of Hainan.
