Paphiopedilum cerveranum   BRAEM

The Paphiopedilum with the heart-shaped staminode is considered by some taxonomists as a variety or as a synonym of Paph. appletonianum.

For a long time this species is known as Paph. robinsonii have been traded.

In the botanical description of the Paph. robinsonii is noticeable that it has a heart-shaped staminode - but the markings clearly show a Paph. bullenianum.

For this reason, the Paph. robinsonii for a long time to Paph. bullenianum with place of origin Malaysia.

In 1999 Guido Braem named this species to Paph. cerveranum.

In the years that followed, three more "heart-shaped" Paphiopediles were described by Chinese botanists, but these are not recognized by Western taxonomists:

Paph. tridentatum, Paph. angustifolim und Paph. puberulum
