About the existence of Paph. hippii, a controversial discussion is being conducted.

It differs from Paph. jackii by narrow petals and the laterally compressed and hooked labellum, but occurs in identical habitats.

Some taxonomists therefore see them as a variety of P. jackii, others simply as a synonym of it.
