Paphiopedilum platyphyllum YUKAWA
Section: Coryopedilum
Synonym: Paph. stonei var. platyphyllum
From Paph. platyphyllum only a few plants have been found in northern Kalimantan (Borneo, Indonesia). In this area are also smaller colonies of Paph. rothschildianum and Paph. kolopagingii was found, so that it was assumed for a long time that it could possibly be a natural hybrid with these plants.
Initially, these plants were also considered a variety of Paph. stonei - however, Paph grows. stonei much further south in Sarawak (Malaysia)
Through breeding, however, it turned out that Paph. platyphyllum is a separate species. These plants grow very large - the leaf span can measure over a meter.
