Paphiopedilum spicerianum   PFITZER

Section: Paphiopedilum

Paph. spicerianum was only known from India for a long time before it was found in southern China. The plants grow at altitudes of 300 - 1300 m.

This plant does well in temperate areas.

From an imported plant stock from Paph. spicerianum, a few plants flowered with a slightly different flower (pictures from HeSa):

The plants have been described as form/variety:

Paph. spicerianum f. burkhardii GRUSS & ROETH

A few years ago one blossomed as Paph. spicerianum purchased plant like this (right). Obviously it could be a natural hybrid with Paph. spicerianum - if necessary with Paph. helenae.
